Below, we have compiled some of the most commonly asked questions to provide you with the information you need. If you have additional inquiries or require further clarification, please feel free to contact us.

How Do I Start the Process to Receive Supported Living Services?If you have completed a DDA assessment and are eligible for DDA services, then you or your legal representative can request services through your case manager or contact DDA’s Service and Information Request Line. If you have not yet completed a DDA Assessment, you should visit DSHS Eligibility for steps on how to start the process or contact your local DDA office.

Who is Eligible for Supported Living Services?Individuals must be: At least 18 years of age Eligible and enrolled in DDA services and Medicaid On or approved for the CORE Waiver or the Community Protection Waiver Assessed by DDA as needing services in a supported living setting.

How Do You Ensure Resident Safety?We prioritize resident safety through security measures, trained staff, emergency response protocols, and regular safety assessments. Our goal is to create a secure and supportive environment.

Will I have to share a home in your program?Individuals receiving Supported Living Services rent a home or apartment and pay for rent, food, and other personal expenses. Most requiring 24-hour support share a home with at least one other person. Up to four people may receive supported-living supports in one home. Individuals have their own room. People requiring less than 24-hour support and can afford to live on their own often do not share their home with others.

What is Supported Living?Supported Living is a service that supports clients to live in their home in the community with support from a contracted agency. Individuals typically live with two or three housemates, and staff provide teaching or support based on needs. Supports may vary from a few hours per month up to 24 hours/day.

What Are the Costs Associated with Supported Living?Individuals who receive supported living pay their portion of rent, utilities, food, typical household furnishings and maintenance costs, some transportation costs (i.e. bus passes), and any other personal expenses. Sharing a home with one or more people helps make living expenses more affordable. Clients are encouraged to apply for all benefits for which they are eligible such as: social security, food assistance, Section 8 housing, and utility discounts, If you have any other questions or need further information, please don't hesitate to get in touch with our team. We are here to assist you on your journey toward greater independence and well-being.

What Makes Your Supported Living Program Unique?Our program stands out for its person-centered approach, individualized care plans, dedicated and trained staff, community integration efforts, and commitment to empowering residents to lead fulfilling lives.

Where will I live if I join your program?New Journey Support Services is based in Spokane County, and we have been working hard to build relationships with local housing organizations to be able to provide quality housing options to the individuals we serve. Most homes are located throughout Spokane, Spokane Valley, and the surrounding areas. If you currently live in a rental home, and do not require 24-hour support, we may be able to provide you services in your current residence. If you are looking for housemates to help with the financial costs, we can support that need as well. We cannot offer our services to those who are residing in their parents’ home.

What Types of Services Do You Offer?New Journeys Support Services provides all the supports identified in the individuals Person Centered Support Plan. The supports are determined by a Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) assessment. Staff support the individuals to be as independent as possible, through: Community activities Self-advocacy Building relationships Finances Shopping Menu planning and cooking Medication management Medical appointments Personal hygiene Daily living activities

Can Family Members Be Involved in Care Plans?Absolutely! We believe in a collaborative approach to care. Family members are encouraged to be involved in the development of care plans and to stay informed about their loved one's well-being.
